Hump Day Rambling

Hump Day Rambling: This has absolutely nothing to do with recruiting in electrical manufacturing or the state of the grid. Except that IU is a powerhouse! I might even go so far as to call them their own mobile substation! Okay…seriously this is what I wanted to talk about today.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about IU today. Even though I’m married to a Boilermaker and at every single Purdue football game I yell IU sucks, IYKYK. I can tell you even the Purdue folks are celebrating IU’s amazing season and becoming this year’s national champions. Indiana is celebrating this week!

If you don’t know the name Fernando Mendoza let me, tell you a bit about him. He led his team with grace and grit. Talk about a special kid. The way this team came together to win was something beyond just football. Each time Fernando got the opportunity to speak of his accomplishments and the team he doesn’t hesitate to give all the glory to God.

For those who watched the celebration and wondered why Fernando’s dad remained seated his mom has MS. So rather than block her view his dad chose to sit beside his wife so they could celebrate their son together, the only way she could sitting down. WOW, I mean WOW. Now that is living those marital vows. No wonder Fernando has such strong convictions. He had great examples.

If you don’t know Fernando’s story, I encourage you to look it up. He is a remarkable young man.

So even though I am happy for IU. I won’t lie it is still kinda painful to say “Go Hoosiers,“ what can I say I am flawed! I am a big enough person to be proud of IU and what this championship means for our state. People often think of Indiana as flyover state, just the crossroads of America. Some of you may think I don’t like living here..which is understandable because the only time I mention it is in the winter…which I do HATE. But for those of you who don’t know this is an amazing state to live in. Especially Carmel where I hang my hat. You can also thank the state of Indiana for the popcorn you enjoy each time you go to the movies because we are the biggest producer of it! Just a fun tidbit.

IU has had an amazing season, and the win is well deserved. I did love when they stomped all over my rival in the SEC!

Go Hoosiers. (There, I said it and it didn’t even taste like vinegar.)
