Director of Sales, Wildfire Mitigation

Wildfires are moving faster than the systems built to stop them. Our client is changing that equation and needs a sales leader who can grow their reach across the markets that need it most.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is NOT a traditional sales leadership role.

The strongest candidates may come from wildland firefighting, fire suppression, emergency management, utility wildfire mitigation programs, forestry, or public safety leadership. You may already be influencing purchasing decisions, securing funding, managing stakeholder relationships, or leading critical programs, even if sales has never been your formal title.

This is sales leadership with real ownership. Market strategy, channel partnerships, grant pursuits, and major account wins. You will have the autonomy to decide where to play and how to win, and the responsibility that comes with it.

The customers are the people on the front lines of wildfire risk: government agencies, utilities, industrial operators, and high-risk communities. If you have spent your career in that world, you already know how they think and how decisions get made. That knowledge is exactly what this role requires.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Go to market strategy across government, utility, industrial, and community markets
Channel development and management of external sales partners
Grant-funded pursuits at the federal, state, and local levels
Proposals, negotiations, and direct closes with strategic customers
Trade show, conference, and webinar presence
Pipeline ownership and revenue forecasting
Competitive and regulatory intelligence across the wildfire mitigation landscape

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The strongest candidates come from inside the fire world. That means wildland firefighting, fire suppression, response operations, utility wildfire mitigation programs, or emergency management. You can read fire risk and fuels data and turn it into a case that an executive or agency director acts on.

You bring:

Direct experience in wildland fire operations, emergency response, or utility wildfire mitigation
Leadership background in fire service, public safety, or emergency management
Working knowledge of government grant processes
Strong presentation and technical writing skills, from the field level to the boardroom
Some sales experience, or a serious appetite to build that muscle in the right environment
A technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience
Low ego, team first, mission driven

ABOUT THE SEARCH
Foster Conner International is conducting this search on a retained, confidential basis. We represent both the client and the candidate in finding the right match, not just the fastest one. Compensation is competitive with the responsibilities and will be discussed directly with qualified candidates.
