Lead the Commercial Future of a U.S. Electrical Equipment Manufacturer

Foster Conner Recruiting is conducting a confidential search for a Vice President of Sales to own the full commercial function for a U.S.-based manufacturer of electrical infrastructure and power equipment — including products that sit at the center of grid modernization and data center power demand.

This role reports directly to the CEO and carries real P&L accountability. You will set the strategy, lead the team, and own the number.

This is not a relationship-management role with a fancy title. This is a seat at the table for someone ready to build something.


What You Will Be Responsible For

Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive U.S. sales strategy aligned with growth objectives, market dynamics, and product roadmap
  • Identify and capture new opportunities across utility, industrial, and EPC segments
  • Lead pricing strategy and margin management
  • Own pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and disciplined sales execution

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, geographically dispersed national sales team
  • Define performance expectations, accountability measures, and career development paths
  • Implement succession planning and ongoing capability building across the organization
  • Create a culture where performance is expected and recognized

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Maintain and expand executive-level relationships with key customers and strategic accounts
  • Ensure the company’s product and service capabilities are positioned to meet what the market actually needs
  • Represent the company at industry events, customer meetings, and major negotiations
  • Drive improvements in customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance on demand planning, capacity, and delivery
  • Collaborate with Marketing on positioning, product launches, and demand generation
  • Keep sales grounded in operational reality — lead times, inventory, and what the plant can actually deliver

Performance Management & Operational Excellence

  • Establish and track key sales metrics — revenue, margin, pipeline health, forecast accuracy
  • Implement and optimize CRM and sales enablement tools across all regions
  • Drive consistent execution of sales processes and best practices nationally

  • Executive-level customer relationships are deeper a year from now than they are today

What You Bring

Experience in Industrial or Electrical Manufacturing Sales

  • 12+ years of progressive sales leadership, including multi-site or national responsibility
  • 7+ years building and leading high-performing sales teams
  • Proven P&L accountability for a $100M+ business or region
  • Background in complex, long-cycle B2B sales, manufacturing, electrical infrastructure, or industrial markets strongly preferred
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and national account strategies

Commercial Competencies

  • Strong pricing, contract negotiation, and margin optimization experience
  • Data-driven with the operational discipline to back it up
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools

Leadership Capability

  • Strategic thinker who translates vision into execution
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence at the C-suite level, internally and with customers
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and move organizations toward shared goals
  • High resilience and decisiveness in a market environment that does not slow down for anyone
