The Opportunity
Foster Conner has been exclusively retained to identify a visionary Vice President of Engineering for a premier industrial manufacturing and technical services firm. The organization is a market leader in the design and fabrication of complex power distribution systems and integrated automation solutions.
Following several years of record-breaking revenue, the company is poised for a massive departmental scale-up. We are seeking an executive leader who specializes in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environments to professionalize, standardize, and grow a multi-disciplinary engineering organization.
The Role: Strategy, Infrastructure, & Scale
As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President of Engineering will be the primary architect of the company’s technical future. You will move beyond daily design to build the systems, people, and processes required to support a 2x–3x increase in production throughput.
Key Executive Mandates:

Scale the Engineering Engine: Lead the aggressive recruitment and development of electrical and mechanical engineering talent to meet a surging project backlog.

Switchgear & Power Expertise: Serve as the ultimate technical authority for custom Low-to-Medium Voltage Switchgear, ensuring all designs meet rigorous safety and performance standards.

Standardize Best Practices: Establish “Gold Standard” SOPs and engineering KPIs to transition the department into a standardized, modular workflow that maintains quality while reducing lead times.

Operational Alignment: Partner with Manufacturing and Fabrication leads to optimize “Design for Manufacturability” (DFM), ensuring seamless hand-offs from the drafting table to the shop floor.

Strategic Advisory: Act as the primary technical advisor to the CEO/President on technology investments, R&D for grid modernization, and high-level resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a seasoned veteran from the power distribution or electrical manufacturing space who has successfully navigated the “growing pains” of a high-growth industrial enterprise.

Experience: 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership, with a heavy emphasis on Switchgear, Power Distribution, or Industrial Control Systems.

Growth Track Record: Proven experience scaling an engineering department (staff, software, and SOPs) to support $200M+ in revenue growth.

Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of NEC, UL, and IEEE standards

Leadership Style: A “Builder” mentality—someone who enjoys creating structure out of rapid growth and mentoring the next generation of technical leaders.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required.
