Senior Transformer Design Engineer

Senior Transformer Design Engineer (Electrical OEM)

Location: Southern United States | Relocation Assistance Provided | On-Site Position

About This Opportunity

Foster Conner International has been retained to find a Senior Transformer Design Engineer for a well-established electrical OEM in the Southern United States. This is a confidential search on behalf of a respected manufacturer in the power equipment and electrical infrastructure space, and the client’s identity is shared only with qualified, screened candidates as the process moves forward.

If you’re a transformer design engineer who’s ready to step into a role where engineering isn’t an afterthought but the backbone of the company, this is worth a conversation.

What Makes This Role Different

At this organization, engineering is considered the most important department in the company. Your work directly shapes product performance, customer satisfaction, and the company’s reputation in the market. This isn’t a role where design engineering gets buried under other priorities. It’s the priority.

There’s real room to grow here, both in scope of responsibility and in career trajectory, for the right engineer who wants to build something rather than just maintain it.

What You’ll Do

  • Design transformers from concept through production
  • Apply deep technical knowledge of transformer design principles, electromagnetic theory, and thermal performance
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and sales teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, and cost targets
  • Support product development initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes
  • Troubleshoot design and performance issues, working cross-functionally to resolve them
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers as the department grows

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of experience designing transformers, with previous employment at an electrical OEM required
  • Strong working knowledge of transformer design standards, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to take a design from concept to production
  • A track record of solving complex electrical engineering problems in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (or equivalent hands-on OEM design experience)

Work Arrangement

This is an on-site position. Candidates should expect to work from the facility on a regular, ongoing basis, not remotely. That said, once established in the role, there is some flexibility for occasional work-from-home days. This is not a remote or primarily hybrid position, and candidates looking for that kind of arrangement will not be a fit here.

Relocation assistance is available for candidates who are not currently local to the Southern United States and are open to making the move for the right opportunity.

What’s Offered

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
  • Platinum-level benefits package
  • Relocation assistance
  • A department where your work is valued and visible from day one
  • Real opportunity for career growth within the organization
